Breakfast a great success
The May 2008 breakfast fly-in was a huge success, with hundreds of meals served and a fascinating array of machinery dropping in. See this link for more pix.

April 2007 update
Gatton’s innovative Airpark development has seen two new aircraft take to the sky in recent days. Keith and Hazel Jackwitz, the people responsible for the development, have realized another dream when, after 18 months of construction, their RV-7 kit aircraft (below right) made its maiden flight from the Airpark last week. Within days, Beven Dryden, manager at Andersens Carpets, had his own kit-built Sonex aircraft (below left) signed off and airborne after 12 months of part-time work. Quiet, economical, affordable and straightforward to build, these two aircraft are examples of two of the most popular kits currently available, with many examples being built around the world. “It’s why I decided to build at the Airpark” states Beven Dryden. “It allows me to have a new home, close to work and the town, yet with an airstrip where I can fly my own aircraft for fun and recreation without annoying neighbours.” A sentiment echoed by retired mining engineer, Billy Hill, who is building his own aircraft, along with young Phil McMahon, who will re-commence work on his project once his new house is finished.
Almost all of those purchasing land are flyers, or express an interest in aviation – some have been living in the area for a long time, others are from interstate – but all are united by a common bond.
Gatton is now leading the rest of Australia with the development of the Airpark, and often visited by people from other communities such as Bundaberg and Casino seeking advice. The Malaysian Government has already expressed an interest in doing something similar, based on our local concept. The development is virtually sold out, with almost all of the 60 allotments spoken for, with eleven homes either completed or under construction. As reported at the time, a successful gathering of local pilots and their machines was held in October last year, with plans for another event in the coming months further highlighting our town to the broader community.

Gatton feature (31 October, 2006)
Local resident Martin Hone has just written a feature on the airpark -- see this link.
Airvan 100 drops in on Gatton (17 October)
From Martin Hone at the Gatton Airpark (Qld): We currently have a distinguished visitor at the airfield - the Gippsland
Aeronautics GA-8 Airvan Number 100. It is staying overnight during a mini
barn-storming tour of the Eastern States en-route to its new home in
Papua-New Guinea, where it will be doing missionary work for the Missionary
Aviation Fellowship. Along its route northwards, it is stopping off at
selected places to allow those that support the MAF to come out and inspect
its latest acquisition.
MAF's 10th Airvan was officially handed over on
August 23 in front of about 300 guests and staff gathered in the large
hangar at GA where its 100th aircraft was unveiled by the Federal Transport
Minister, Mr Warren Truss. MAF is a not-for-profit team of aviation
professionals providing air transport in places of deepest human need -
remote places where flying is not a luxury, but a lifeline. For almost 60
years, MAF has flown over jungles, mountains, swamps and deserts to bring
thousands of men, women and children medical care, emergency relief,
long-term development and Christian hope.
Gatton hosts fly-in soon (October 1, 2006)
Gatton Airpark is holding its first official flying event with a breakfast fly-in on October 1. Formerly known as Gatton South, the airfield is celebrating the considerable progress that has been made since the decision to create a state-of-the-art residential airpark around the existing all-weather airstrip. Ten hangars have already been erected, four homes occupied and another six underway out of the 31 lots comprising Stages 1 & 2.
If you are anywhere in South East Qld, or even further afield, and would like
to join with other members of the flying community for breakfast and a look around the unique hill-top development, we would love to see you on Sunday
morning, October 1 – Martin Hone (Click to email)
