All of us at Weron are veterans of the car sales business, so we know about selling, but we were amazed at how effectively the right messages and the right words (on paper and in a stand-up presentation) can sell something much more complex than a car – us! The great thing about Shoemark & King is that they can do the whole PR package – press releases, videos, award entries, photography, special promotions, the lot – and everyone on the team is a true professional. At first I was only looking at press releases to go to the trade magazines, because GrabStick is aimed mainly at the building trades (although we do have a plan for retail later, and S&K is already involved in planning for that). No problems there.
It wasn’t long before we needed help to do a video, and we were lucky enough to have Greg work on the script. Next we wanted to find a new distributor, so S&K arranged a prize give-away (with a few well-chosen words “from our sponsor”) at the annual plumbing industry dinner. Within only a few days we were approached by the company that would become our worldwide distributor. When it came time to enter the Yellow Pages Business Ideas Grants for 2003, naturally I got S&K on the job to write the submission – and we ended up as a national finalist.
